Bathroom Installation and Refits in North West London, North London, East London and Essex
A new bathroom is one of the harder jobs to get right because it brings together five or six different trades in a single, confined space. We design, install and refit bathrooms for domestic and commercial clients across North West London, North London, East London and Essex, taking care of the whole project from removal of the existing suite through to the final coat of paint.
What Our Bathroom Work Covers
Full bathroom refits
Removal of the existing room, repositioning of services where required, and installation of the new suite, tiling and finishes.
Suite replacements
Where the layout is staying as it is and the existing pipework and electrical supply can be reused.
Wet rooms
With the appropriate falls, tanking and waterproofing, including the floor build-up changes the room requires.
Shower rooms and en suites
Where space is at a premium and the layout has to work hard to fit everything in.
Accessible bathrooms
Level-access showers, grab rails, lower units and other adaptations for changing needs.
Cloakrooms and downstairs WCs
Added into the existing footprint or fitted neatly into under-stairs spaces.
We supply suites, taps, tiles and accessories where the client prefers, or fit items the client has bought themselves. Either approach is straightforward provided the specification is agreed in writing before the work starts.
Waterproofing, Plumbing and Electrics
A bathroom is the most punishing environment in the average house. Steam, splashing and condensation work at every joint and every fixing for as long as the room exists, so three things determine whether a bathroom lasts ten years or twenty-five.
The first is what sits underneath the tiles. Tile backer boards, properly sealed at the joints, perform considerably better than plasterboard in a wet zone. The second is the silicone and sealant work, which has to be carried out with patience and the right products rather than as the last job of the day. The third is the pipework, which should be installed with future access in mind so that a small future repair does not mean ripping out a wall.
All electrical work is carried out by qualified electricians in line with Part P of the building regulations, and all plumbing is fitted to current standards. Certificates are provided where applicable.
What to Expect From the Process
Most bathroom jobs follow a similar sequence and run to a similar timescale, which makes them easier to plan around than many home improvements. Once the design is signed off, the room is stripped back to the structural surfaces. Pipework or wiring that needs moving is repositioned first, then plastering, floor preparation and any tanking. The suite goes in, followed by the tiling, the painting, and the final fitting of accessories, lighting and mirrors. A typical domestic bathroom runs to between one and three weeks depending on scope. Where there is no second bathroom available, we plan the order of work so there is at most a short period without a working WC and basin.
Why Work With Ridgewell
We are a family run business with decades of experience. The team that quotes the job is the team that carries it out, and the supplementary trades are people we work with regularly rather than unknown subcontractors. Quotations are written and itemised, the schedule is agreed in advance, and the site is left clean each day.
Areas We Cover
Bathroom installations are carried out across North West London, North London, East London and out into Essex. Period terraces, post-war semis, flats and new-build housing are all catered for.

Bathroom Installation FAQs
How long does a new bathroom take to fit?
A typical domestic bathroom runs to between one and three weeks depending on the scope of the work. A like-for-like suite replacement is at the shorter end; a full refit involving moved services, tanking and full re-tiling sits towards the longer end.
Can I supply my own suite, tiles and taps?
Yes. We supply suites, taps, tiles and accessories where you prefer, or fit items you have bought yourself. Either approach is straightforward provided the full specification is agreed in writing before the work starts.
Will I be left without a working bathroom?
The household is usually without that bathroom for the duration of the work. Where there is a second bathroom or shower this is rarely a problem; where there is not, we plan the order of work so there is at most a short period without a working WC and basin.
Do you fit wet rooms and accessible bathrooms?
Yes. We install wet rooms with the correct falls, tanking and waterproofing, and accessible bathrooms with level-access showers, grab rails, lower units and other adaptations for changing needs.
Is the electrical and plumbing work certified?
All electrical work is carried out by qualified electricians in line with Part P of the building regulations, and all plumbing is fitted to current standards. Certificates are provided where applicable.
Which areas do you cover?
We install and refit bathrooms across North West London, North London, East London and out into Essex, covering period terraces, post-war semis, flats and new-build housing.
