Jet Washing and Pressure Cleaning Across North West London, North London, East London and Essex
Driveways, patios and paths pick up algae, moss, lichen, oil and traffic film slowly enough that most people stop noticing the difference until it has gone too far. A proper jet wash will lift years of dirt off a surface in a single afternoon. We carry out professional jet washing across North West London, North London, East London and Essex on residential and small commercial properties.

When Jet Washing Is the Right Approach, and When It Is Not
Pressure washing is the right tool for surfaces that are hard, dense and dimensionally stable: block paving, porcelain, concrete and most modern tile finishes. It is the wrong tool for surfaces that are soft, porous or coated in a finish that the pressure will strip — old natural stone, lime-washed render, painted brickwork in some cases, and roof tiles of any kind.
We assess the surface before quoting and will say so plainly if jet washing is going to do damage. Where the surface needs a softer cleaning method, that is what we will recommend and use.
Re-Sanding and Re-Sealing
A jet wash on block paving will lift the existing jointing sand out of the joints. Replacing it is a normal part of the work and the only way to leave the surface stable afterwards. We use kiln-dried sand brushed into dry joints, with the option of a polymer-modified sand where weed regrowth has been a recurring issue.
Sealing is optional on most surfaces and worthwhile on porcelain, sandstone and high-traffic areas where the additional staining resistance is wanted. We will set out the options in the quotation and let the client decide whether the additional cost is worth it for the surface concerned.
How We Work
We make transforming your property simple. Our step-by-step process keeps you informed at every stage, from the first site visit through to the final handover.
Free Site Survey & Quotation
We assess the surface, discuss what you want to achieve and provide a detailed, written quotation — no obligation and no hidden costs.
Method & Surface Preparation
We match the cleaning method to the surface — full pressure where it suits, a softer method where it does not — and protect surrounding planting and drainage before we start.
Professional Jet Washing
Our team lifts years of algae, moss, oil and traffic film off the surface, working systematically so the finish is even rather than patchy.
Re-Sand, Seal & Clean Down
Joints are re-sanded where required, sealing is applied if chosen, and the area is left clean rather than awash before we walk you through the finished work.
Why Choose Ridgewell
A family run firm with decades of experience treats jet washing as part of a proper service rather than a quick weekend job. The surface is assessed first, the method is appropriate, the joints are re-sanded where required, and the area is left clean rather than awash.

Jet Washing FAQs
Answers to the questions we are most often asked about driveway, patio, path and render cleaning. Still unsure? Send a couple of photos and we will advise.
Will jet washing damage my patio or driveway?
Not when it is matched to the surface. Pressure washing is the right tool for hard, dense, dimensionally stable surfaces such as block paving, porcelain, concrete and most modern tiles. On soft or porous surfaces — old natural stone, lime-washed render, painted brickwork and roof tiles — too much pressure can strip the finish, so we assess the surface first and use a softer method where it is needed.
Why does the jointing sand need replacing afterwards?
A jet wash on block paving lifts the existing kiln-dried sand out of the joints. Replacing it is a normal part of the work and the only way to leave the surface stable. We brush fresh kiln-dried sand into dry joints, and can use a polymer-modified sand where weed regrowth has been a recurring problem.
Do I need to have my surface sealed?
Sealing is optional on most surfaces. It is worth considering on porcelain, sandstone and high-traffic areas where the extra staining resistance is wanted. We set the options out in the quotation and leave the decision with you, so you can weigh the additional cost against the benefit for your particular surface.
Can you remove algae, moss, lichen and oil stains?
Yes. Driveways, patios and paths pick up algae, moss, lichen, oil and traffic film gradually, and a proper jet wash will lift years of build-up off the surface, usually in a single afternoon depending on the area.
Can you clean render, pebble dash and decking?
We clean render and pebble dash on external walls using the technique appropriate to the finish, and we clean both timber and composite decking. Garden walls and fencing can also be cleaned where the material is suitable.
Do you clean roofs by pressure washing?
No. Roof tiles are cleaned by a soft method rather than direct pressure, which would damage them. Roof cleaning is covered on our separate roof cleaning page.
Which areas do you cover for jet washing?
We carry out jet washing across North West London, North London, East London and Essex, on residential and small commercial properties.
