Fitting Standards
A well-made window or door will still perform badly if it is fitted badly. The opening has to be sized correctly, the frame has to sit square and plumb, and the perimeter has to be sealed properly against air and water ingress. Any old reveal, lintel or sill the new unit is fitted against has to be sound before work goes on. Our installations meet the relevant building regulations — thermal performance, ventilation, fire-escape requirements in habitable rooms and security standards — and certification is issued by the appropriate scheme on completion.
When Replacement Is the Right Call
Draughts that were not there a few years ago, condensation forming between the panes of a sealed unit, locks that no longer engage cleanly, frames that show signs of rot, or window furniture that has rusted through — these all point to windows at or past the end of their working life. Replacement is usually the right call once two or three of these are showing on the same window.
Doors give similar warnings. A door that has dropped on its hinges, a frame that has separated from the wall, or a multi-point lock that has stopped engaging are jobs that warrant attention before a forced-entry test reveals how weak the door has become.
