Garden Landscaping Across North West London, North London, East London and Essex
A garden that has not been touched in a decade tends to need rather more than a tidy-up. Borders have lost their shape, paths have settled or cracked, lawns have given way to moss and marginal drainage has stopped working. We carry out landscaping projects of every common scale across North West London, North London, East London and Essex — restoring usable, structured outdoor space with the hard surfaces, levels, drainage and planting in the right relationship to one another.
What Our Landscaping Work Covers
Full garden redesigns
Where the layout is being changed substantially, we develop the design with you or work to a designer’s drawings.
Hard landscaping
Patios, paths, steps, retaining walls and decking, laid on the right falls and sub-base.
Soft landscaping
New lawns, turf or seed, planted borders and shrub beds suited to the site.
Raised beds & sleeper walls
Used both for planting and to deal with sloping sites.
Garden drainage
Where a garden waterlogs after rain or where water tracks back towards the house.
Boundary treatments
Fencing, walls and hedging that frame and secure the garden.
Garden lighting & outdoor electrics
Installed as part of a wider design and finished safely.
Levels, Drainage and Sub-Base Work
The least visible part of any landscaping job is also the part that determines whether the result lasts. A patio laid on the wrong fall will sit in a puddle after every shower. A retaining wall built without drainage behind it will fail when the soil saturates. A new lawn laid on compacted subsoil will struggle through every dry summer.
We take the time to work out the levels, the drainage and the build-up before the visible work begins. Where a garden has a drainage problem already, we design the landscaping to deal with it rather than building over the top of it.
How a Landscaping Project Runs
A typical project starts with a site visit and a discussion of what the garden is being asked to do — entertaining space, family use, low-maintenance planting, somewhere to put the bins out of sight. A written quotation follows, broken down by area or by element so the cost is clear.
The work itself follows the usual sequence: strip-out, levels and groundworks, drainage, hard landscaping, soft landscaping and planting, and finishing details. Most domestic gardens are completed in two to six weeks on site depending on scope.
Why Choose Ridgewell
Landscaping draws on most of the trades we already carry out — brickwork, paving, fencing, drainage and decorative work — and benefits from a single contractor managing the whole project rather than a sequence of separate trades. A family run firm with decades of experience does this as a matter of course.
